About

Hi! I’m Dez Prado 🙂

Welcome! I hope my blog serves to help you in anyway possible as we go through life’s up’s and down’s as neurodivergent families.

Stay positive. Be inspired. Advocate for yourself and others. And always remember, you are AWESOME!

Work in progress? Absolutely. Hot mess? Occasionally. But I’m learning to be intentional and proactive about what really matters—my family’s well-being.

Empowering Neurodivergent Family Journeys

Join me in embracing the imperfect moments of ADHD parenting and raising a child with high-functioning autism, SPD, and multiple food allergies – with heart, humor, and honesty, one meaningful day at a time.

About Me

Hi again! I’m Dez – as neurodivergent mom, my life is filled with unique challenges and beautiful moments. Raising a child with high-functioning autism, sensory processing disorder and multiple severe food allergies has taught me resilience and creativity. This blog started as a way to share our story – the raw, real moments of parenting with ADHD while managing meltdowns, meal planning around allergies, and making it through everyday chaos. My goal is to create a supportive community where we can learn from each other and celebrate our victories, no matter how small.

Understanding Our Unique Challenges

Our journey hasn’t followed the typical parenting script. It took me a while to realize that was okay. From late-night ER visits and elimination diets to emotional meltdowns and educational evaluations, our life has been anything but ordinary.

It wasn’t until I went back to work after nearly a decade as a stay-at-home mom that I truly realized how much I was struggling. I couldn’t focus, my anxiety skyrocketed, and I was constantly overwhelmed. That’s when I was diagnosed with adult ADHD and suddenly, so much of my life made sense.

This blog is my way of documenting the real-life challenges of neurodivergent parenting, not from a place of expertise, but from lived experience.

Celebrating Small Wins

We celebrate progress here, no matter how small. Whether it’s finding an allergy-safe snack my kid actually likes, making it through a meltdown without both of us spiraling, or managing to schedule all the appointments on time (rare, but it happens!) We count it all!

This blog isn’t about perfection. It’s about the in-between moments. The tiny victories that often go unnoticed but mean everything to families like ours.

You’ll find stories of hard days and hopeful ones, sensory-friendly finds, ways we budget around allergy-safe living, and the little things that help us feel like we’re moving forward, even if it’s one step (or one deep breath) at a time.

Creating a Supportive Community

If you’ve ever felt like traditional parenting advice just didn’t apply to your life, you’re not alone, and you’re in the right place.

This space is for neurodivergent parents, relatives, caregivers, or anyone raising kids who don’t fit into the so-called “typical” mold. It can also be a place of learning for people who want to understand our world. It’s for those of us juggling sensory sensitivities, emotional regulation, 504/IEP meetings, ingredient labels, and everything in between.

I don’t have all the answers, just a whole lot of lived experience, love and a desire to connect with others on similar paths.

So join me. Let’s build a space where we can share, learn, vent, laugh, and maybe even cry a little – without judgment.
